How To Choose The Right Brake Pads

2023-10-20
Brake pads are generally composed of anti-noise and silencer pads, backing plates, heat insulation layers, adhesives and friction materials. As a key component of brake pads, friction material directly determines braking performance and also affects comfort, durability, etc.

According to the material and composition ratio of the friction material, it can be divided into asbestos brake pads, semi-metallic pads, low-metallic pads and ceramic pads.

1.Asbestos Formula
Because asbestos fibers are produced during braking and are harmful to health, their use has been banned in most markets.
2.Semi-Metallic Formula
It has a large metal material content (about 30%-50% iron metal), good heat dissipation effect, high braking performance and large thermal conductivity. It is suitable for braking needs at high speed, heavy load and operation. But at the same time, it lacks performance in terms of noise and vibration, and causes relatively large wear on the disc.
3.Low Metal Formula
Good braking performance and stability, good fade performance at high speeds and high temperatures, and can effectively reduce brake disc wear and noise compared to semi-metallic formulas. Suitable for car owners who require braking agility.
4.Ceramic Formula
Low dust, low noise, good comfort. It is suitable for car owners who want a quiet and comfortable driving experience, have requirements for a clean appearance of the vehicle, and have a gentle driving style.
