Maintenance Of Front Axle Hub End Cover

2023-07-14
The front axle hub end cover is an important part of the hub. It allows the owner to observe the lubrication status of the hub through the transparent window, and understand the oil condition inside the hub in time, so as to provide assistance for vehicle maintenance. However, during driving, the air pressure in the inner cavity of the hub will increase. At this time, the gas will be exhausted through the vent plug on the hub cap, so as to balance the pressure inside and outside the hub. During this exhaust process, the lubricating oil in the hub will be taken out with the gas, causing oil stains on the surface of the end cover and affecting the use of the hub.

So how to maintain the hub? First of all, the correct amount of oil should be ensured when refueling. Strictly control the amount of oil injected. After filling, you need to rotate the hub 5-10 times, and check the oil level after standing for 10 minutes. Make sure the oil level is between the upper and lower marks on the window. Secondly, after the end cover is disassembled, the old flange gasket is strictly prohibited from being used again, and a new paper gasket needs to be replaced. Finally, it is recommended to tighten the end cover bolts symmetrically/star-shaped with a torque of 16-24NM; meanwhile, the tightening torque of the oil plug bolts is 15-20NM. The above operations must be strictly implemented to ensure the normal use of the product and reduce the risk of oil leakage.
